The idea was fully embraced. An executive Board was formed, but we needed a name for our Association. We wanted to reflect that all sections of the community were welcome to share and be part of our vibrant culture. Friends of the Caribbean MK was suggested by Wain McIntosh, and we all agreed that this was befitting. We held our very first meeting soon after, and hence this was the start of our Association. We are a not-for profit organisation and will be applying for charitable status later this year. Our main challenge this year is to fully establish our mentoring scheme for youngsters between the ages of 12 and 18 in and around Milton Keynes.
